Early last week Miami-Dade was paid a visited by the Euro-Mediterranean metropolis, Aix-Marseille-Provence. Monday, November 6, marked an important day in its history. President Jean-Claude Gaudin participated in a Sister City Agreement signing and press conference with Esteban Bovo, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, Commissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Chair of the International Trade Consortium, Rebeca Sosa, Chair of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee, and Jean Monestime. This is the first of its kind for Aix-Marseille-Provence in the United States and the largest delegation Miami-Dade County has ever hosted.
Marseille is the birthplace of a variety of innovations and hopes these first step will create stronger ties with the USA. The province serves as a Mediterranean crossroads of trade between Europe and Africa, similar to how Miami serves as a hub for companies entering from Latin America, Europe, and more.
Tuesday evening, over 600 people attended the Pérez Art Museum in Miami for the metropolitan territory’s promotional conference. They provided a clear understanding of their mission in the USA, engaged in some networking and participated in conversation regarding various developments overseas right now.
Last Friday was also an exciting day at StartHub, as we opened the doors of our coworking office to some of the members of the delegation which is made up of top government officials, media, and economic developers, just to name a few. Founder, David Bensoussan, sat down with the group to discuss opportunities for growth and partnership with StartHub Miami in the future.
“We’re fostering a deeper relationship with this dynamic ecosystem and letting them know they can count on Miami,” says Bensoussan. “We see many similarities between Starthub’s mission and their own, so we are thrilled by their interest in working with us.”
Our concierge services are an excellent enhancement to the work they wish to accomplish in the USA; whether it involves helping a French company create a USA subsidiary or if they just need a better understanding of their opportunities here in Miami. In any case, these kinds of partnerships fuel the efforts set forth by the Starthub Acceleration team. We look forward to working with Aix-Marseille-Province and the numerous international organizations and stakeholders involved.
